Consumer Quality Initiatives
Consumer Quality Initiatives (CQI), a Massachusetts-based, mental health consumer-led research, evaluation and quality improvement nonprofit, is seeking an experienced, strategic thinking, entrepreneurial and visionary executive director who will help guide the organization to its next level of development. Candidates who have lived experience with a mental health condition and recovery (consumers) are especially encouraged to apply.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a cutting-edge organization that is in the forefront of consumer-based, participatory action research and is positioned to deepen its impact on the mental health field - in Massachusetts and nationally. The new executive director will help the organization develop new partnership and contract opportunities in order to deepen and expand CQI's research and evaluation initiatives.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated success in nonprofit management, developing new contracts and revenue-generating opportunities; have experience with growing an organization and developing consumer leadership; and have a strong interest in using research and evaluation to affect behavioral health policy change. By doing so, we aim to study issues that are relevant to the community, initiate changes to improve the system for all, and narrow the gap between research/evaluation and practice."
Growing out of the consumer/survivor movement of the 1980's and 90's, CQI has a unique history of effectively formulating consumer-voice inspired research and evaluation, engaging participant respondents, and generating productive feedback fostering quality improvement. Since its inception, CQI has advised the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (the state behavioral health managed care plan), independent provider agencies and peer-led organizations about consumer-directed program planning, quality improvement and evaluation.
CQI has an annual budget of about $500,000. Its board is comprised of at least 51% consumers and a majority of its staff providing direct services are also consumers.
