Provide Parent-to-Parent Support, For Parents with children and adolescents with MH/SA diagnoses that have been in residential programs or hospitalized. Act as a reflective, objective, and non-judgmental coach or mentor. Have Peer Specialist Certification or eligible to apply for certification. Work with families to organize and prepare for meetings so their voice can be heard. Attend meetings with families. Partner with other Providers in the process, as well as works as a collaborative advocate. Help family engage and actively participate in developing an individualized WRAP plan. Help team develop indicators of success that are the family’s expression of what their needs and goals are. Help family make informed decisions that drive the process. Use strength-based approach to guide the family into developing a vision. A mediator, facilitator, or bridge between families and agencies. Complete documentation as required in a timely manner. Utilizing their unique recovery experience, the CPS will teach and role model the value of every family's recovery experience and model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies. To qualify and succeed in the position: High School Diploma/ GED, Have Peer Specialist Certification or eligible to work towards and apply for certification. Lived Experience. Computer skills, Organizational skills, ability to work with minimal supervision. , Must be able to pass intensive local and national criminal background investigations, drug screen and have good 7yr. motor vehicle report.
CERTIFIED PEER SPECIALIST- DALTON, GA- FULL TIME
The CPS will facilitate recovery orientated, wellness, and skill building groups.
Support consumers in articulating personal goals and objectives for recovery and wellness. Assist consumers in identify strengths, recovery/wellness goals, setting objectives, and identifying barriers. Recognize and reporting progress consumers make toward goals/objectives. Utilizes specific interventions necessary to support consumers in meeting their recover/wellness goals. Lead as well as teach consumer how to facilitate recovery dialogues/groups. Support consumers in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). Teach problem solving (negative self-talk and overcoming fears) techniques. Support consumers in building social skills in the community that will enhance job and support network. Develop engaging recovery orientated group and outings. Support non-CPS staff in identifying program environments that are conducive to recover; lend unique insight into mental illness and what makes recovery possible. Support consumers in obtaining services that suit that individuals recover needs. Support consumers in developing empowerment skill through self-advocacy and the use of experience to combat stigma. Be able to create and facilitate a variety of group activities that support and strengthen recovery. Prepares and conducts group activities. Develops Curriculum for Peer Support Groups Links with Community agencies to find Speakers, volunteer opportunities, community activities, etc. Encourages Peers to lead groups and motivates peers to attend CPS training. Offers support, arrange transportation, assist in linking consumers to appts, referrals to other agencies, departments, etc. Provides Peer Support services to assigned Drives Van to pick up and take consumers home as assigned and needed. Responsible for follow up for if consumers are absent from program. Qualifications Include: High School Diploma/ GED, Certification by the Georgia Certified Peer Specialist Project.
